Rising Sign jewellery is made from high quality 925 Sterling Silver, gold-plated sterling silver, gold-plated and un-plated stainless steel – with proper care and maintenance it will last a lifetime.
Sterling silver is prone to tarnishing, so use a silver polishing cloth regularly to prevent tarnish from forming. Store your jewellery in the specially designed Rising Sign jewellery box which comes with every jewellery order, or something like a zip lock bag as this will prevent scratches as well when not being worn. Remove your jewellery when showering, swimming or applying perfumes and lotions – this will also prevent tarnishing.
A good rule of thumb is to let the jewellery be the last thing you put on in the morning and the first thing you remove at night.
Here are our tips on caring for your Rising Sign jewellery pieces:
- Keep your jewelry away from water, lotions/creams, perfume, sweat and other liquids. If your piece gets wet, wipe it dry.
- Avoid swimming, bathing or showering with jewellery on. (On solid 14k gold jewellery, contact with moisture can dull the shine. On sterling silver, contact with moisture can induce tarnishing!)
- If your piece oxidizes/tarnishes, you can scrub the tarnish away gently with a toothbrush and warm water.
You’ll find these instructions in the Jewellery Care booklet that comes with each piece of Rising Sign jewellery.
What is a Birth Chart?
A birth chart is a map of the star and planets in the sky at the moment of your birth. At every point on earth, one see’s a different sky, and each passing moment this tapestry changes, and so no two birth charts are alike, much like us.
By properly analysing a birth chart, one is forced to consider and evaluate many different areas in his or her life; the good and the bad, the opportunities for growth and improvement, the possibilities, threats, weaknesses and unproductive behaviours. It provides an inherently external perspective on our own actions and their context. By taking this perspective, whether an experienced astrologer or someone with a new curiosity, the Birth Chart represents the ultimate astrological representation of the self.
Creating my Chart
An optimal chart includes an accurate birth time.
Luckily, today it is common practice for most countries to register an official time of birth on birth certificates. If you do not have a copy of your birth certificate on-hand you can contact the local office of vital records or the registry office where birth records are maintained in your country or region. Alternately you can sometimes get official birth information by contacting the hospital in which you were born as they do, in many instances, keep birth records on hand. Be sure to specify time of birth in your requests as some versions of documents omit that information even when it may be recorded and available on a different version of the record. For additional links that might help retrieve birth time in your region visit our Resources Page.
In the event this doesn’t work, you can always try asking parents or relatives for information. They may have a good memory of the event or may be able to provide some clues that can significantly narrow down the window of time. If you have an estimated time (sometime around 7pm, for example) you can try entering a range of times into the chart generator to see if the results appear with any significant differences. In most cases, there will not be a notable difference in chart details if the window of time being searched is narrow enough. If you are unsure of the results, consider consulting with an astrologer specifically about whether or not there are significant chart differences throughout a specific window of time. After some sleuthing and experimentation you might be comfortable going forward with creating a chart.
In any event, please make sure you are fully satisfied with the information you enter before placing your order. Because your chart is customized and printed specifically for you, we cannot issue refunds for instances of incorrect information (see Returns Policy).
How does selecting “I don’t know the exact time” affect my chart?
Selecting the “I don’t know the exact time” option does not change the accuracy of your chart. All of the planets are still positioned accurately. This option does omit certain information that is available on charts with specific times. The 12 houses and the points of the AC and MC are necessarily omitted from charts with unknown times. Also, the chart is automatically oriented so that the Aries zodiac sign is positioned at the 9 o’clock position.
What is an astrology chart / birth chart?
A birth chart maps the positions of the planets in relationship to one another at the moment of birth. For centuries Astrologers have used these complex charts to examine a person’s personality traits, preferences, strengths, limitations and opportunities. Several standard elements bring each chart to life, most importantly the zodiac, celestial markers which include the 10 planets as well as other celestial bodies and mathematically significant points, and the 12 houses. Find out about the main elements in a Rising Sign birth chart by visiting our Birth Chart page and downloading our free pdf guides.
How can I understand my astrology chart/ birth chart?
There are thousands of free resources about reading and understanding your birth chart available online. There are popular sources that cover a wide range of topics from the basics for beginners to in-depth analysis for experts and professionals. To familiarize yourself with the basic elements of your Rising Sign chart, feel free to visit our Resources page.
How is my chart printed?
All printed charts arrive on ultra quality, heavyweight, archival paper with a smooth matte finish. All prints appear with best-in-class print quality with colours that are deep and rich.
How accurate is my chart?
Rising Sign uses a number of trusted, contemporary resources to calculate your chart so that it can be as accurate as possible.
We draw from the Swiss Ephemeris, which is a highly recognized, comprehensive list of the positions of naturally occurring astronomical objects as well as artificial satellites in the sky at a given time or times. The Swiss Ephemeris is based upon the planetary and lunar ephemeris DE431 developed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This program serves the needs of astrologers, archaeoastronomers, and, depending on purpose, also the needs of astronomers. It’s precision is at least as good as that of the Astromical Almanac, which follows current standards of ephemeris calculation.
The Rising Sign Chart Generator also utilizes Google Maps API to provide a comprehensive, accurate list of cities and their GPS coordinates for you to choose from.
How is my chart calculated?
In addition to using trusted databases for the data entry portion of generating charts, here is some other information about the features of a Rising Sign chart:
+Calculated using the Tropical Geocentric Model and the Equal House System.
+Features the ten major astrological planets: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto.
+Includes five other traditionally significant points: Part of Fortune, Chiron, AC, MC and North Node.
+Presents five major aspects: Conjunction (0 degrees), Opposition (180 degrees), Square (90 degrees), Trine (120 degrees) and Sextile (60 degrees) with aspects drawn only between the 10 major planets.
+Planet orbs are as following: Sun 12, Moon 12, Mercury 8, Venus 8, Mars 8, Jupiter 8, Saturn 8, Uranus 5, Neptune 5, Pluto 5. When calculating aspects, for each pair of planets the highest orb is used.

Why does my Rising Sign Birth Chart look different from a chart generated in another astrology program, even though the data I’ve entered is the same?
Many people do not realize that there are many different ways to calculate and configure an astrology chart. Note that there is no uniform doctrine or standard set of calculations for creating charts. Although the underlying structures behind astrology charts are generally similar, different practitioners use different sets of planets, aspects and orbs. They use different calculation systems that work for them, and hold different beliefs not only about how to interpret chart information but also about how to display it. This is why charts based on the same personal information can (and probably will) appear at least slightly different across generator platforms.
But differences do not mean your chart is inaccurate! There are certain details that are constants among every version of your chart, no matter where it is created. These include the exact positions of the planets around the chart wheel and the orientation of the zodiac in relationship to these planets. The same chart can vary in ways that may include how many planets or points are included, which planets or points are considered in relationship with others, where house lines are drawn, the sizes of individual houses, and which angles between planets (aspects) will display.
Rising Sign uses a verified calculation to produce charts that are both accurate and visually appealing. We’ve tried hard to select a calculation method that produces a visual result that a wide audience can appreciate. If you are already very familiar with your own chart that has been created elsewhere, it is indeed possible that you will notice a few deviating details, but you can be confident that your chart is accurate even if it does not look exactly like what you know. Your chart will resemble very closely what you’ve seen before. Just remember that what you see is the same information presented in a slightly different way.
Please check your chart closely during the generation process to make sure you are personally comfortable with how your chart will appear. Because each chart is custom printed we cannot issue refunds for charts after an order has been placed.

Is Astrology real?
Some people believe that the planetary forces directly influence human behavior on earth. Others believe that there is merely a correlation between celestial bodies and terrestrial activity. Of course there are many people who don’t believe in astrology at all. The truth is that it doesn’t matter whether astrology is “real” or not. What’s important to recognize is the great potential for self-reflection that an astrological birth chart can provide. At it’s core astrology is a collection of observations about human nature that has been compiled by thousands of people over thousands of years. The ideas behind it are great for examining your individual personality, desires, strengths and weaknesses, and even the most superficial astrological concepts can provide the perfect starting point for profound introspection and soul searching. So remember that no matter whether it is “real” or not, or even whether you believe in it or not, in any case your birth chart is as beautiful to behold as it is to contemplate.
“I think astrology, at its best, is about opening up the imagination, opening up the possibilities, by getting you to play with visions of what’s possible. It’s not a belief system; it’s not a religion; it’s not a science. It’s a language of the archetypes that you can play with and thereby get a read on the biggest possibilities that are available to you.”
